The GPR PSL FAn is pleased to invite you to the Distinguished Lectures by John Marenbon (University of Cambridge) and Leonard van der Kuijp (Harvard University), which will take place at the IEA de Paris on 18 March 2026.

These lectures will be followed by a round table discussion moderated by Vincent Eltschinger (EPHE-PSL), Muriel Debié (EPHE-PSL), Alexis Lycas (EPHE-PSL) and Isabelle Ratié (Collège de France). 

Programme

  • 10:30 a.m.: Welcome and introduction (Vincent Eltschinger) 
  • 11:00: Medieval Christian and Islamic Views of Indian Culture (John Marenbon, University of Cambridge)
  • 12:30-2:00: Break 
  • 2:00 p.m. : The Enculturation of the Indic in Tibet: Translators as Cultural Intermediaries and the Idea of the Scholar (Leonard van der Kuijp, Harvard University) 
  • 4:00–5:30 p.m.: Round table with Muriel Debié (EPHE-PSL), Leonard van der Kuijp, Alexis Lycas (EPHE-PSL), John Marenbon, and Isabelle Ratié (Collège de France) – Moderator: Vincent Eltschinger.
